McDowell, Watney lead weather-delayed Players
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. – Graeme McDowell and Nick Watney completed five holes on Saturday and share the lead at The Players at 11 under par, one better than Steve Stricker and David Toms and two clear of K.J. Choi and Lucas Glover. The third round could not be completed on Saturday as a front came through and held up play for nearly 4-1/2 hours. When play was finally suspended for the day due to darkness, there were 19 players within four shots of the co-lead of McDowell and Watney.
The 34 players left on the course will return to their positions at 7:45 a.m. and once they complete their rounds, pairings will be reset. Players will go out from Nos. 1 and 10 in threesomes with an expected start at approximately 11:30, and the final tee time will be 1:42 p.m. ET.
