Rain causes long delay, suspension of play
CROMWELL, Conn. — The first round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands was called after a delay that lasted all afternoon on Thursday. Play will resume at 7 a.m. Friday with the afternoon wave scheduled to tee off at 7:15 a.m.After more than an inch of rain fell following a stoppage of play at 11:30 a.m., play was scheduled to re-start at 5:30 p.m., but the conditions kept forcing the time to be moved before it was ultimately called off for the day.
Only six players completed the opening round — Kris Blanks was the low score in the clubhouse with a 68. Michael Bradley was the low man still on the course at 6 under through 16 holes when play was stopped.
