Harbour Town: Round 2 notes – Verizon Heritage
• Defending champion Boo Weekley is one off the lead after 36 holes at the Verizon Heritage thanks to a 7-under 64 on Friday morning. Weekley, who played in the event for the first time last year, was the only player in 2007 to post four rounds in the 60s (67-69-66-68-270). He's added two more rounds in the 60s this week for a total of six (69-64). The most consecutive rounds in the 60s for a player at this event is nine by Nick Price (last three '96, all '97 and first two '98). Greg Norman also posted seven consecutive rounds in the 60s.• A total of 75 players made the 36-hole cut, which came at 1-over-par 143.
• Weather: Sunny and cool in the morning with temperatures in the mid 50s, warming into the upper 70s by the afternoon. Winds variable 5-10 mph.
• Outright leaders are nothing new at the Verizon Heritage. The last time there were co-leaders through 36 holes in Hilton Head Island was in 1996 when Jeff Sluman and Tom Watson shared the lead at 6-under par. In fact, in the previous 39 years of the tournament, there have been co-leaders only 11 times.
• Lucas Glover, winner of the 2005 FUNAI Classic at Walt Disney World Resort, is at 10-under par (66-66) and owns a one-shot lead over defending champion Boo Weekley. The Clemson graduate holds the 36-hole lead for just the second time in his career. Glover's previous 36-hole lead was a one-shot advantage heading into the weekend at the 2006 Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard where he finished tied for 17th.
• Cliff Kresge (tied for fourth) recorded a 5-under 66 and is three strokes back of leader Lucas Glover. Kresge is having the best year of his career, highlighted by a tie for third at the Arnold Palmer Invitational. With a top-10 finish this week, he can surpass all of last year's FedExCup points total.
• Anthony Kim fired a 4-under 67 at Harbour Town Golf Links on Friday for a total of 8-under 134, two strokes behind Lucas Glover. Kim, who is 22 years old, could become the youngest winner of the event with a victory on Sunday. Davis Love III was the youngest winner when he won the Verizon Heritage at the age of 23 years and six days.
• Robert Allenby recorded the 14th hole-in-one in Verizon Heritage history on Friday. Allenby used a 5-iron to ace the par-3 fourth hole. It was the fifth hole-in-one of Allenby's career -- 2002 SEI Pennsylvania Classic, 2003 PGA Championship, 2005 Buick Open and 2006 Deutsche Bank Championship.
• Ben Curtis followed Allenby with an ace of his own on No. 4 two groups later. Curtis also used a 5-iron for his hole-in-one. Friday marked the first time this year in which two aces were made on the same hole on the same day.
• Of the 37 players who are participating in the Verizon Heritage and also teed it up last week at the Augusta National Golf Club, 26 made the cut this week.
• Justin Rose withdrew before his round due to a bad back. Mark Calcavecchia withdrew during the round on Friday due to illness.
• Harbour Town Golf Links played a little easier on Friday. The scoring average on Thursday was 71.652, compared to 71.055 on Friday, .597 strokes easier on day two.
