Final-Round Notes – Sunday, February 17, 2008 Sunny skies with a high of 59 degrees and winds SSW at 4-8 mph. Phil Mickelson carded a final-round 70 to capture the Northern Trust Open by two shots over Jeff Quinney. With his win, Mickelson picks up 4,500 FedExCup points and moves into first place on the FedExCup points list with 8,069 points. J.B. Player board wants a Saturday cut

LOS ANGELES (AP) -In what could amount to a compromise over the PGA Tour's divisive cut policy, players have recommended that the policy be changed to allow for a 54-hole cut when the field gets too big. A tour official said Wednesday that the 16-man Players Advisory Council, which met this week at Riviera Country Club, wants to return to the traditional 36-hole cut of the top 70 and ties.
